According to reports, the Super Eagles are on the verge of welcoming yet another big talent into the team, as Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo is set to commit his international career to Nigeria.
Adarabioyo set for Super Eagles career
While the decision isn’t official yet, Teamnigeriauk hinted at this development during an interview with TVC News via their Instagram account.
The 27-year-old defender, who joined Chelsea on a free transfer from Fulham over the summer, has featured for the Blues four times this season, including the last weekend’s 3-0 win over West Ham in the Premier League, where he made it into Enzo Maresca’s starting line-up.
Adarabioyo was born in London, England, but of Nigerian descent, which appears to have inspired his decision to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Should it be made official, he will join the ranks of other well-known Anglo-Nigerian athletes who have taken similar decisions in the past, such as Alex Iwobi and Ademola Lookman.
Although the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has not made an official announcement, the news has already generated excitement among Nigerian football fans, with the former Fulham defender’s addition set to bring a new dimension to Nigeria’s defense.
In other news from Sports Buddy, former Super Eagles star Victor Ikpeba has sent a clear message to the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), urging them to act fast in securing the call-up of rising star George Ilenikhena, who recently set an impressive record in the Champions League.
