The son of ex-Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins, Kevin Martins helped his team to the Coppa Italia round of sixteen, after providing an assist to mark his senior debut appearance for Monza on Thursday night.
The 19-year-old was named in the team’s starting line-up for Thursday’s cup clash against Bressia at the Stadio Brianteo as Monza emerged 3-1 winners over the visitors.

Kevin played as a right-wing back in the and was solid in his position all through the game, also providing a beautiful cross in the opening minutes, which led to his team’s opening goal.
This is a huge step for the youngster, who would now look to get minutes in the Serie A, following in the footsteps of his father, Obafemi Martins, who had a successful career during his time in Italy.
Obafemi spent six years in Italy, spanning from 2000-2006, where he played for Regianna and Inter Milan. However, his most successful moments in the country were recorded in Inter, where he scored a total of 49 goals in 136 games, winning the Serie A title once, two Coppa Italia trophies, and the Supercoppa Italiana, as per Wikipedia.
The legendary striker, one of the Super Eagles’ highest goal scorers, would sure be proud of his son Kevin’s performance last night, as he looks to see him rise to become one of his biggest stars in the world.
