Hansi Flick has conceded the blame for the failure of his Barcelona team in the wake of their 4-2 loss away to Osasuna on Saturday evening.
The German coach saw his perfect LaLiga record ended at the Estadio El Sadar in Pamplona after an Ante Budimir brace and two more from Bryan Zaragoza and Abel Brentones secured an impressive win for the host.
Barcelona had not lost to Osasuna since last doing so under the reigns of Pep Guardiola more than 12 years ago, and the result on the night is the fault of none than their current boss Hansi Flick, as the man himself will have it.
‘Blame me’ – Hansi Flick on Barcelona loss
Heading into the match against Barcelona, Los Rojillos boasts an astonishing home record this season, with three wins and one draw in four games.
Unfortunately, Hansi Flick did not foresee the threat as it was the game he choose to rest his showstoppers in Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.
“If you want to blame someone, blame me. I made the mistakes. I overplayed the players and now we had to rest them.” Hansi Flick said in his postmatch interview.
Barcelona lost their unbeaten status and has now suffered two defeats across all competitions this season. They yet remain at the top of the league standing, although gives Real Madrid the chance to close the gap to one point, if Los Blancos is able to defeat their city rivals Atletico in the Madrid derby on Sunday.
It was a huge opportunity thrown away by Barcelona as they could have stand the chnace to potentially establish a seve point lead with Real Madrid playing arguably their toughest fixture of the season.
