‘They called him crazy’ – Fans reaction after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer comment in 2021 resurface

All has not been well with Manchester United this season after suffering their third defeat of the season in the humiliating loss to Tottenham Hotspur in Old Trafford on Sunday.

Erik Ten Hag’s side has won just twice in their last seven games across all competitions — against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup and against a poor Southampton side in the Premier League.

They are placed 12th with just seven points after six games into the league season and have picked up a draw in their only UEFA Europa League game against FC Twente in Old Trafford.

Their poor spell under the Dutchman has been covered by their Cup successes having won the FA Cup last season and the Carabao Cup in the season before.

Fans are now saying the same thing about a comment by their former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was at the helm between 2018 and 2021.

In 2021, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said in an interview ;

“A trophy does NOT mean you’re back. It’s the gradual progression and consistency of being at the top of the league.

“Sometimes, a cup competition can hide the fact that you’re still struggling.”

As accurate as he was back then, fans could not see the light in it. They have become too desperate to win titles after four long years of starvation.

Now, Erik Ten Hag has won Cup titles in back-to-back seasons but the club appears to be regressing, season after season under his watch. One fan on X, formerly known as Twitter wrote ;

“Very right

He was the Coach to take us to the next level but our impatience kicked him out

Look at us now”

Manchester United return to action on Thursday with an Europa League trio to Porto in Portugal.
