Ex-Manchester United striker Louis Saha has advised his former club to go all out for Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen, labelling the Nigerian attacker as a proven goal scorer with pedigree.

The Red Devils have gotten off to an underwhelming start to their 2024-2025 campaign, taking just seven points from a possible 18 in the Premier League, with the latest being a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at the Old Trafford on Sunday.

The result further compounded their fans’ frustrations, with calls for manager Eric Ten Hag to be sacked.

Their struggles in attack further highlight the team’s problems, having recorded just five goals from six Premier League games.

Club legend Saha believes a solution to the club’s attacking woes lies in Osimhen, reiterating his initial views, having previously likened the Nigerian to former Dutch striker, Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

Despite Osimhen recently moving to Galatasaray on loan, Saha believes he is the right man to occupy the number nine role for the 20-time league champions.

“I don’t know if it’s a realistic option, because he (Osimhen) is on loan at Galatasaray, but if you’re talking about a proven goal scorer with pedigree, he is the man. He would instantly improve the team,” he said, via Daily Star.

“If you signed Osimhen, you’re not signing potential. You know exactly what he is going to give you.

“A striker like Osimhen is exactly the kind of signing that Manchester United need to make. If it takes a lot of money, and it will to sign Osimhen, you go and do it,” he added.

This comes after the new-Galatasaray signing opened his goal-scoring account for the Turkish League champions, breaking a seven-year record at the club.

With these qualities, Saha believes the reigning African Men’s Player of the Year is a right fit for United.
