‘From Villain to Hero’ – Raphael Onyedika wins club’s Player of the Month in wake of disastrous outing in Belgium
Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika will have no difficulty getting over his red card against Sporting Charleroi during the weekend as he has been named Club Brugge’s Player of the Month of September.
The Nigerian international featured in all five of Nicky Hayen led side during the month, where they won two, lost as many and drew one.
Onyedika was given his marching orders by referee Nathan Verboomen in the 55th minute of the 1-1 draw with Sporting Charleroi on Friday in the round nine game of the ongoing Belgian First Division season.

However, on Monday, he was announced the winner of their Player of the month award after receiving more votes than any of his teammates in the pool.

Onyedika has been voted Club Brugge‘s Player of the month of September. The 23-year-old won 31 percent of the votes, edging the quartet of captain Hans Vanaken, Christos Tzolis, Gustaf Nilsson and goalkeeper Simon Mignolet to the award.

Although Onyedika is now suspended for domestic competitions, he is expected to return to action sooner rather than later, and that will be on Wednesday when Club Brugge take on Austrain side Sturm Graz in the UEFA Champions League round two.
