Chelsea and Manchester United ex-striker Romelu Lukaku has revealed why he has decided to wear the number 11 jersey at Napoli.
This choice has drawn attention, especially as Napoli’s iconic number 9 shirt had been worn by Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen for four seasons after his move from Lille.

Lukaku’s Respect for Victor Osimhen
After the collapse of possible deadline-day transfers to Al-Ahli and Chelsea, Napoli withdrew the No. 9 jersey from Osimhen, which is said to have been assigned to Lukaku when he returned to Napoli in the summer transfer market.
But, according to Calcio Napoli24, Lukaku said he had decided not to take the number 9 to show respect to Osimhen.
In a previous report from Sportsbuddy, Amir Rrahmani of Napoli has discussed the difference between playing with Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku.

While the number 9 remains his favourite shirt at clubs including Chelsea, the Italian side Inter Milan, and the English club Manchester United, he decided on the number 11, which was left vacant after the Moroccan forward Walid Cheddira moved to Espanyol on a loan period.
This marks the first time in Lukaku’s club career that he will wear the number 11 jersey, though he has worn it for Belgium’s national team.
