Manchester City midfielder Matheus Nunes has been arrested after an incident in a nightclub in Madrid where the footballer was accused of assaulting a fan who took his picture.

“El Mundo” has reported that the incident happened shortly after 4 am at the La Riviera nightclub.

The 26-year-old allegedly grabbed a phone belonging to a 58-year-old man in the bathroom after believing the man had taken an unauthorised photo.

Witnesses provided conflicting accounts of the situation.

Nunes was later taken to the Arganzuela police station, where he provided a statement regarding the allegations of theft.

Although he was released after a few hours, charges are pending trial. This incident adds further complications to his career as the midfielder continues to navigate his challenges at Manchester City.
