The Egyptian scored the second the second goal of the match, 15 minutes from time to secure the points after already registering an assist for the opener, scored by Alexis Mac Allister eleven minutes into the game.

Salah, who equalled the all-time record for most goals scored by an African in the competition during the 2022-23 season, missed out on the chance to cash in on history last season as Liverpool failed to qualify following their fifth place finish in the league that season.

He played in the Europa League last season, scoring five goals while he shared the Champions League record with Didier Drogba on 44 goals each.
Mohamed Salah eventual did what was inevitable, scoring a trademark goal from a Dominik Szoboszlai assist in the 75th minute in Anfield, and become the all-time leading Goalscorer in the UEFA Champions League history, for Africa.
Both Salah and Didier Drogba spent time together at Chelsea, when the former was just starting out and the latter was close to calling it a day.
