Erik ten Hag has insisted on not leaving Manchester United despite the calls for the coach’s dismissal due to poor performance in the beginning of the season.
One of his loyal confidants, Leon Ten Voorde, stated that he had recommended that Ten Hag should relinquish the position after clinching the FA Cup last year.
However, the Dutchman remained in the post and proved he was capable of delivering the goods for the Old Trafford outfit.
Ten Hag’s future internally discussed
This is the second consecutive period that Ten Hag is being confronted on how long he could remain the head of the club, bearing in mind that United’s worst ever Premier League season was under his tenure, the club finishing in the eighth position.
Calls to Leave After FA Cup Triumph
Ten Voorde, who has known Ten Hag for more than 40 years, told him to leave United on high after winning the FA Cup.
While speaking to the De Ballen Verstand podcast as quoted by Mirror, Ten Voorde stated, I advised him to leave last summer. He won the FA Cup, so you leave through the front door.”
Despite the endless setbacks with injuries, Ten Hag was certain that United could be revived.
His friend added, “How long does United think this can go on? That question is now hanging over United and Ten Hag again.”

United’s woes continued; they lost three of the first six Premier League matches this season, including 3-0 to Liverpool and Tottenham at Old Trafford.
Their defensive problems were again highlighted during their 3-3 Europa League match with Porto, where they threw away two goals.
While Ten Hag was extended a one-year contract by the new management of INEOS, the red devils’ search for solutions to many of their issues continues to intensify.
