Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has admitted that goalkeeper Éderson stayed with the Premier League champions beyond the summer because no club was able to meet the price tag placed on him, according to Daily Post.
The Brazilian shot-stopper had been strongly linked with moves to Saudi clubs Al Nassr and Al Ittihad during the transfer window, sparking rumours of an exit.
However, after Éderson’s impressive performance in City’s recent 3-2 victory over Fulham, where he made several crucial saves to secure the win, Guardiola addressed the speculations surrounding his future.
According to the Pep Guardiola, despite the interest from these clubs, none of them matched the asking price set by Manchester City, which ultimately kept Éderson at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola said Clubs can’t Afford Ederson

Pep Guardiola also praised the Brazilian for his commitment and contribution to the team, acknowledging that his presence remains vital to City’s ambitions. It seems, for now, Éderson will continue being a key figure in City’s quest for more trophies.
“He knew from day one I didn’t want it, we didn’t want it but the truth, I’m going to tell the truth, the offer didn’t come,” Guardiola said.
“The real offer, because they make an offer, but to be for the keeper, for the team who won four Premier Leagues in a row, they have a value, you know, have a price. Otherwise, he cannot leave. This is the truth.”
