Barcelona target a return to their famous Spotify Camp Nou stadium before the end of the year according to the club’s institutional vice-president Elena Fort.
Barcelona has not played in their historic stadium since the end of the 2022-23 season due to the ongoing renovation as they intend to enhance the experience of fans by increasing the capacity by more than five thousand to 105,000.
The board is now anticipating a return despite the ongoing construction works, with only around 62,000 seats available for use at the time.
Barcelona target Camp Nou return later this year
Speaking during the club’s press conference on Monday morning, Elena Fort disclosed the plans on return to the Camp Nou earlier than scheduled, albeit the renovation is not completed. She said;
“We are working towards returning to the Spotify Camp Nou before the end of the year, but there are factors that could change our plans.”
We will have 62.000 capacity at the Spotify Camp Nou until the works are fully completed in June 2026.” she added.
The original plan is that the renovation be completed in 2026, when the 105,000 seats will all be ready, adding a little over 5,000 to the over 99,000 seats available.
Barcelona has made use of the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys for their home games while renovation is ongoing at the Spotify Camp Nou.
