TRANSFER NEWS: Manchester City ready to go all out for £50 million-rated midfielder as Rodri replacement

With Rodri sidelined for the rest of the season due to an ACL injury, Manchester City have identified a potential replacement for the midfielder and are ready to go all out to see the deal materialised.

Since Rodri has established himself as perhaps the best defensive midfielder in the world, it is doubtful that any one player could sufficiently replace the impact the Spanish star has on Pep Guardiola’s team.

Relevo, claims, however, that the Citizens are reportedly keeping an eye on a deep-lying midfield player who has been showing up more frequently on the transfer radars of Europe’s elite teams in anticipation of a January bid.

After a summer of links to both Liverpool and Arsenal, Real Sociedad’s highly regarded midfielder Martin Zubimendi is now being evaluated by City to fill the vacuum left by his absent international teammate.

Despite backing out of a potential move to Anfield just a few months ago, Zubimendi is yet to sign a new contract and, as a result, retains a release clause worth approximately £50.3 million (€60 million).

As the No. 6 at the base of midfield, the 25-year-old midfielder has grown into a fantastic player who not only controls the game’s tempo but also shields the defense behind him.

While City have plenty of options at every position, Guardiola still doesn’t seem to know how to set up his midfield without the always reliable Rodri.
