Nigerian goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi, currently playing for Marumo Gallants, has said he wants to see more of his countryman moving to South Africa to join the Betway Premiership.
Speaking to the Limpopo-based club after spending time with the Kaizer Chiefs, Akpeyi noted that players can learn a lot more in the PSL than in the NPFL.
The Need for Greater Exposure
Daniel Akpeyi emphasized the benefits of playing in the PSL, stating, “Nigerians have to consider this league because without disrespect, with all humility, there’s no way you can compare the Nigerian league and the South African league.”

Numerous Choices for Nigerian Talent
Admittedly, Akpeyi recognized the quality of players in the NPFL; he strongly held the opinion that Nigerian footballers can benefit from the greater exposure that comes with playing in the PSL.
“We have so many talents in Nigeria, so many good players… but they need this type of platform for them to showcase their talent to the world,” he added while speaking to FARPost via IOL Sports.
PSL’s Position in African Football
Akpeyi also endorsed the South African league, saying that the PSL league is one of the top six leagues in the continent.”
He believes that with such an opportunity, more footballers from Nigeria should follow suit and climb up the latter.
