Brazil president Lula da Silva has expressed his intentions to have players from Europe and abroad removed from the national team to give room to only players that ply their trade in the country.
The Brazilian national team has endured a fall from grace in recent times as players have been underperforming while representing the country in qualifiers and major tournaments.
An example is Vinicius Júnior, the Real Madrid winger who is set to be announced the winner of the 2024 Ballon d’Or award. Vini has just five goals in 35 national team appearances since his debut in February 2019.

The president plans to meet Brazilian Football Federation CBF to discuss his wishes in the coming days. He wants the national team to give more room to players within the country in order to give more acknowledgement for their league.
Stars like Vinicius Júnior, Rodrygo Goes, Raphinha, Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Magalhaes, Bruno Guimaraes, Lucas Paqueta, Endrick, Savio and plenty others will be affected by this decision.
There is also Neymar Junior, who has not called time on his engagement with the national team and recently recovered from a long-term injury. Although Lula laid more emphasis on players from Europe, it remains to be seen how the Al Hilal man is affected by the recent development.
