According to reports, France captain Kylian Mbappe has made a huge decision to exclude himself from ‘unimportant’ games with the national team as he sets sights on winning the Ballon d’Or in 2025.
Mbappe stirred controversy last week as he reportedly opted out of international duties for Les Bleus.
The three-time world champions are without the Madrid forward for their Nations League matches and have navigated quite well, recording a 4-1 victory against Israel on Thursday, and will also hope to get desired results when they make the trip to Belgium on Monday.

Kylian Mbappe’s request to France

According to Foot Mercato, via Football España on X, Mbappe has requested the France Football Federation not to consider him for all of France’s international fixtures over the course of the 2024-25 season.
The French captain wants to play as many games for Real Madrid as he can while avoiding injury, in a bid to increase chances of winning his first ever Ballon d’Or award.
Mbappe was as a favourite to win the award in 2024 but the tides turned against him following a poor outing in the Euro 2024 tournament.
His club teammate will most likely take home the award in 2024, but the former Paris Saint-Germain man has his eyes set on winning it in 2025.
