Current CAF Player of the year Victor Osimhen has condemned the poor treatment of the Super Eagles squad by the authorities in Libya ahead of their 2025 AFCON qualifiers meeting in Benghazi on Tuesday.
In a bid to have their opponent in the worst possible condition ahead of the match, Libya has made life a living hell for the team even before their arrival at the airport as the landing was delayed for two hours.
The team has been at the Al Abraq airport, denied assess to amenities for 15 hours and counting, and Victor Osimhen has called on CAF to intervene for his teammates.

Victor Osimhen calls for CAF intervention
The Galatasaray striker, although recently returned to training, miss out on the October international games due to injury, which also saw him miss the final three games for his club before the break, wrote on his IG handle;
“l am disappointed by the unfair treatment my brothers and coaches are facing at the Libya airportlast night. Actions like this go against the spirit of sportsmanship. My support is with my team, and I know they’ll stay strong despite these obstacles.”
“I callon CAF and other football bodies to intervene, as my teammates and officials are still stranded at the airport in Libya. This is uncalled for and inhumane. We stand together, stronger than ever. 🇳🇬✊🏻❤️”
Nigeria has won seven out of nine possible points in the AFCON qualifiers and has never lost to the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in their history, winning all four meetings since their first in 2005.
