Arsenal Women have parted ways with head coach Jonas Eidevall after a disappointing start to the season.
The 41-year-old’s tenure came to an end following a series of poor results, including a heavy 5-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League and a 2-1 loss to rivals Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.

Frustrated fans voiced their displeasure during the Chelsea match, booing Eidevall at the final whistle and displaying signs calling for his dismissal.

Arsenal sporting director bids Eidevall farewell

Arsenal’s sporting director, Edu Gasper, said after Eidevall’s departure, as quoted by Sunports,
“We thank Jonas for his commitment to the club and achievements here since joining us in 2021.
“We have great respect for the dedication and commitment he showed to our women’s first team and recognise the role he has played in the growth and development of Arsenal Women. We all wish him the very best for the future.
“Our focus will now turn to the process of appointing a new Head Coach, and in the meantime, supporting Renée, as she takes interim charge of the team starting with two important fixtures this week.”
Renée Slegers, assistant coach to Eidevall, will now take over as interim manager while the club searches for a permanent replacement.
