Manchester United has informed Sir Alex Ferguson in a face-to-face meeting at Old Trafford, that the club is seeking to reduce costs and are no longer prepared to sustain his weekly payments.
The retired Scottish manager spent 26 years at the club between 1986 and 2013, winning 38 trophies, which included two UEFA Champions League and 13 Premier League titles.

The legendary manager had been on £235,000 a week from the club on an ambassadorship deal signed long ago. Sources close to the club revealed that the matter has been dealt with amicably and Ferguson will remain a non-executive director at the club and can be welcome to attend games.

The decision was conveyed by Sir Jim Ratcliffe this week in a meeting. Fergie is committed to the club even after his departure more than eleven years ago, and his intervention is still being sorted in retirement.
