Attacker Kevin Schade can no longer switch international allegiances in the future after making a cap-tied fourth appearance for Germany in the in over The Netherlands on Monday night.
Schade, 22, born to a Nigerian father and a German mother was eligible to represent both countries. He represented the European country in his youth days, and was handed a senior national team debut in March 2023.
However, it wasn’t until his cameo last night in Munich that he becomes ineligible to represent the three time African Champions.

Schade, who made a club record €22 million move to English Premier League side Brentford from Freiburg in the summer of 2022 has scored two goals in 40 appearances for the the Bees, although many of those appearances have been as substitute.
He made three appearances for Die Mannschaft before the end of the year and had not been called up in 2024 until recently, when the Brentford striker was invited to camp by Julian Nagelsmann following an injury to Frankfurt defender Robin Koch.

He made his fourth appearance for Germany, coming on as a substitute for Bayern Munich midfielder, Aleksandar Pavlovic for the final 13 minutes of the 1-0 win over The Netherlands in the Allianz Arena, and thus become cap-tied, ineligible to represent another country.
The NFF has never approached Schade about playing for the Super Eagles, so he is not considered a major loss for the 2013 AFCON winners.
