‘We are not taking this matter lightly’ – Sports minister on Super Eagles airport debacle in Libya

The Minister of Sports Development John Enoh has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the Super Eagles during their recent trip to Libya.

The minister emphasized that Nigeria’s athletes are a priority, and steps are being taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Sports minister assures Nigerians on government commitment in Super Eagles airport incident

According to a video shared by Nigeria stories on X, Enoh assured Nigerians that the government is fully invested in the situation.

‘The Nigerian government has demonstrated similar concern and interest in this situation,” he said, asserting that the government are as concerned in the situation as every other citizen.

He continued ”‘We acted swiftly to the situation, which is why I was at the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport awaiting the arrival of the Nigerian team, and to the glory of God, they arrived safely.

”The Nigerian government so far has not treated this lightly and are not going to take it lightly. We must get to the bottom of the matter.”

An investigative committee is examining the incident, and discussions are underway with sports authorities and foreign officials to guarantee the Super Eagles’ safety and well-being during future international trips.
