Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has disclosed Victor Boniface’s condition ahead of his team’s Bundesliga match against Eintracht Frankfurt tomorrow at the BayArena following the attacker’s unpleasant experience with the Nigerian national team over the international break.
The Super Eagles were subjected to cruel treatment by the Libyan authorities ahead of their African Cup of Nations qualifier clash against the Mediterranean Knights.
Boniface, also with the national team during this incident, was one of the players who spoke about their ordeal in Libya through social media before they were forced to return back to Nigeria.

Alonso provides Boniface update
Now back in Germany with his club side Levekusen, manager Alonso has now provided an update on the 23-year-old striker’s situation following the traumatic experience.
The Spanish manager revealed that Boniface participated in training ahead of his team’s Bundesliga clash on Saturday, while also describing the forward’s experience over the international break.
“We have spoken. What happened is not pleasant. But he has had enough time to train,” said the Leverkusen boss, as quoted by Frankfurter Allgemeine.
Boniface will now look to put his international break ordeal aside as he prepares this weekend’s clash against Frankfurt. He will look to continue his impressive form with his club side, having registered six goals and one assist for the Bundesliga champions this season.
