Super Eagles defender Benjamin Taminu made his long-awaited debut for English League One side Crawley in a 4-1 defeat away to Reading on Saturday.
Prior to the visit to Reading on Saturday, the former Bendel Insurance man had not been involved in any games following his move from Tanzanian outfit Singida Black Stars late in the summer transfer window.
After the transfer was announced, Tanimu was unable to begin training with his new teammates at Crawley Town due to his call-up to Nigeria’s squad for a pair of 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin’s Cheetahs and Rwanda’s Wasps.
He was also invited for Nigeria’s October internationals against Libya and as a result, he missed Crawley Town’s matches against AFC Wimbledon and Shrewsbury Town.

Super Eagles’ Benjamin Taminu debuts for Crawley Town
The former Nigerian Under-23 star was eventually added to the matchday squad for Reading trip on the back of the ordeal experienced in Libya alongside other Super Eagles players during the international break.
The 22-year-old replaced Joy Mukena with seven minutes of normal time left to play in Berkshire, and help ensure that the host add no more to their four goals.
Taminu will hope to earn his first start for Crawley Town when they play host to Lincoln City on Tuesday, as they seek to put an end to their eleven game winless run, of which they’ve lost each of the last seven.
