Wolves boss Gary O’Neil insists he will hold talks with PGMOL chief Howard Webb after Manchester City’s controversial winner – as he questioned whether referees subconsciously favour the Premier League big boys.
Wolves conceded a 95th minute winner to Manchester City and suffered a sixth straight defeat in all competitions, and eighth overall this season, seven of which have come in eight Premier League games.
With the score level at 1-1 and approaching the final minutes of the game, City regained possession rather illegally during a Wolves attack, and went on to win the corner, which resulted in the controversial winner.
John Stones headed home the set-piece to hand Pep Guardiola’s side a 2-1 win in the West Midlands. But Stones’ header had initially been disallowed by the assistant referee, because Bernardo Silva was adjudged to be standing in an offside position and obstructing the view of Wolves ‘keeper Jose Sa.
However, VAR Stuart Attwell called referee Chris Kavanagh to his monitor for a second look, and the goal was given, handing City all three points.

Gary O’Neil criticizes VAR controversy
Speaking on the goal at full time, O’Neil admitted he didn’t see it going his side’s way.
“You can make a decision either way if you want to,” said the Wolves boss
“Without even knowing it, are you more likely to give [the goal] to Manchester City than Wolves?
“When it’s Man City, is there something in there that influences decision-making?”
The Wolves boss continued by adding he will have a talk with PGMOL chief Howard Webb on the controversy.
“I will yeah (speak to PGMOL). But only from an understanding point of view,” he added. “You get these reviews back. And it says 5-0 it’s the right decision, when it’s not that clear. I’ll probably speak to them but only to find out.”
