Sevilla head coach García Pimienta has expressed his deep admiration for Barcelona’s Ansu Fati, following the recent encounter between the two clubs.
The match, held on Sunday, saw Barcelona dominate Sevilla with a resounding 5-1 victory.
Ansu Fati, once hailed as the future of Spanish football, was handed his first start of the season after Barcelona manager Hansi Flick had to reshuffle his lineup due to an injury picked up by Eric García during the warm-up.
Despite Barcelona’s commanding performance, Fati had a mixed outing. The 21-year-old came close to scoring on several occasions, but his finishing let him down.

García Pimienta Backs Ansu Fati
It’s clear that Fati is still working hard to regain the form that once made him one of the most promising young talents in Europe.
However, despite his struggles, García Pimienta remains confident in Fati’s potential to return to his best.
Speaking to the media after the match, García Pimienta, who knows Fati well from their time together in Barcelona’s youth and reserve teams, praised the young forward’s ability and determination.
In comments reported by Diario Sport, Pimienta said,
“Ansu is a great footballer, we already know that, I know him very well from his time with the youth team and the reserve team and nothing comes from the misfortune of the injury, which in the end conditions him a lot. He comes in, he finds the competition that there is at Barça but I am absolutely convinced that he will return to being the great player he was before. He is a competitive animal and works hard.”
