“Premier League is a different level. When you ask me who are the favourites to win the Europa League, it’s easy. I say Manchester United and Tottenham,” Mourinho stated during a press conference ahead of his team’s Europa League clash on Thursday.
United’s Struggles in Europe
Manchester United’s Europa League campaign has been anything but smooth, and Mourinho has been given little time to put the problems right, despite his high praise.
Both of their opening fixtures have been draws: a 1-1 with FC Twente and a disappointing 3-3 against Porto, where they bottled a two-goal lead.
United will face former players Fred and Amrabat when they line up for a crucial match in Turkey, but their suspended captain Bruno Fernandes will be absent.
