Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso, has confirmed that star striker Victor Boniface will not be available for the club’s upcoming UEFA Champions League match against Brest, according to Fotmob.
Boniface, who was involved in a serious car accident on Sunday morning, sustained minor injuries during the incident. The Nigerian international has been recovering since, and has not trained with his teammates in the lead-up to the match.

Xabi Alonso on Victor Boniface Injury
Alonso explained that while Boniface’s physical injuries—small wounds on his hand and a minor cut on his right foot—are not severe, the emotional toll of the accident has been significant.
The manager stressed that the decision to leave the 23-year-old out of the squad is both a precautionary and emotional measure, as the forward is not yet ready to return to competitive action.
“He is not in the squad,” Alonso said during a press conference. “After what happened, it’s also a precautionary measure. Physically, he is better, but the shock is bigger. He feels good, but he is not ready for tomorrow.”
Boniface, who has been in fine form for Leverkusen this season, will be missed in the match, but Alonso is prioritizing the player’s well-being as he continues to recover from the traumatic experience.
