The annual CAF Awards are a night to celebrate the best of African football. Players and teams from across the continent who shined in both club and national competitions are recognized for their outstanding achievements.
The biggest prize of the night goes to the Men’s and Women’s Player of the Year, a coveted title that every African footballer dreams of.
Last year, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen took home the Men’s Player of the Year award after a phenomenal season with Napoli in Italy’s Serie A.

However, with a quieter season under his belt, Osimhen might have to relinquish his crown this year.
Lookman and Boniface as strong contenders for African Player of the Year award
But who will step up to claim the throne? A strong contender is fellow Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman. Lookman enjoyed a stellar season, both with the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, and his club Atalanta.
He played a key role in helping Nigeria reach the Africa Cup of Nations final and inspired Atalanta to their historic victory in the Europa League.
Another potential winner is Victor Boniface. This Nigerian forward’s incredible form with Bayer Leverkusen propelled them to their first-ever league and cup double in Germany.
Other players to watch include Morocco’s Brahim Diaz, a winger tearing up defenses for Real Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund’s prolific striker Serhou Guirassy.
