The Confederation of African Football (CAF) awarded Nigeria’s Super Eagles three points and three goals on Saturday due to the abandoned 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.
This decision further solidifies Nigeria’s position at the top of their group, bringing their points tally to 10 from four games—now four points ahead of Benin, their closest rivals.
Libya’s troubles in the qualifiers only deepen, as they remain at the bottom of the group with just one point. With this advantage, the Super Eagles are on the verge of securing a spot in the 2025 AFCON set to take place in Morocco.
A draw against Benin in Abidjan next month will be enough to confirm Super Eagles qualification, marking a significant step toward their journey to the tournament in December 2025.
