The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has announced its decision to appeal the recent ruling by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which awarded Nigeria a 3-0 victory over Libya in their scheduled 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifier.
This ruling followed the cancellation of the October 15 fixture in Benina, leaving the Super Eagles of Nigeria stranded and forcing a last-minute decision by CAF.
In addition to awarding the points to Nigeria, CAF fined the LFF $50,000, with a deadline to pay within 60 days of notification.

Libyan Football Federation Appeals to CAF Judgement
The LFF, expressing dissatisfaction with what they consider an unjust decision, has enlisted the services of Tunisian lawyer Ali Abbas to challenge CAF’s ruling.
According to Libyan media outlet Alwasat, the federation believes the judgment fails to fairly represent the circumstances surrounding the game’s cancellation.
The Nigerian team’s flight was unexpectedly redirected, and upon arrival, they faced extended delays and were reportedly stranded in an abandoned airport for over 17 hours.
The controversy has sparked significant discussion among football fans and analysts, with many questioning the level of preparedness and logistical arrangements for high-stakes international fixtures.
As the Libyan Football Federation seeks to overturn the decision, the case adds another chapter to a complex qualifying round that has been filled with unexpected challenges and disputes.
