Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini has praised Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman after he scored two goals in the club’s 6-1 victory over Hellas Verona.
The 27-year-old attacker has been in excellent form since joining Atalanta two years ago, and he’s continuing that trend this season.

The Nigerian forward started the match at Gewiss Stadium and really stood out, providing two assists within the first 14 minutes, propelling Atalanta to an early 3-0 lead.
He then added his name to the scoresheet, scoring a brace in the 29th and 30th minutes to wrap up the first half at 5-0.
However, coach Gasperini substituted him in the 56th minute, preventing him from getting a hat-trick.
Giasperini on Lookman’s turnaround form
After the match, the Atalanta boss expressed his delight at his players impressive performances, including the Super Eagles star.
“Lookman and De Ketelaere have grown; this year they are much stronger players. After the Africa Cup of Nations, Lookman had a difficult period, then he exploded, and now he is at those levels,” he said, per Tuttoatalanta.
Lookman’s success with Atalanta and Nigeria has made him a strong contender for the CAF Player of the Year award.
Should he keep up with this impressive form, he could attract interest from bigger clubs next summer.
