Ahmed Musa Blasts NPFL officiating
Musa, a vocal advocate for the NPFL’s development, expressed disappointment in what he described as subpar officiating that he believes affects the league’s credibility and the morale of players.
Reflecting on the officiating in Sunday’s Matchday 9 clash, he remarked,
“I’ve been praising the officiating and the progress in the league up until now, but the performance of the officials in this match makes me wonder if coming back to play in the NPFL was the right choice.”
He went on to emphasize the importance of raising the quality of officiating to foster a positive and competitive environment in the NPFL.
“For the league to improve, we need to address the quality of officiating. Officials must not be allowed to diminish the players’ morale and effort,” Musa stated.
His remarks underscore a broader issue within Nigerian football, as high-profile players like Musa hope to inspire improvements within the league.
He also voiced hesitations about recommending the NPFL to other players if officiating remains inconsistent, stating,
“If I keep witnessing such officiating, I cannot encourage anyone to return to the NPFL. It would be a waste of our efforts if this continues.”
