Atalanta confirmed on their official website that Ademola Lookman reached a personal milestone and matched a club record during their commanding 6-1 victory over Hellas Verona in Serie A at the Gewiss Stadium on Saturday, October 26.
The African Footballer of the Year and Ballon d’Or nominee assisted the opening goal, scored by Marten de Roon in the sixth minute, and just three minutes later, Mateo Retegui doubled the lead from the edge of the box after Lookman’s shot was blocked.
Charles De Ketelaere then made it 3-0 in the 14th minute, with Lookman once again providing the assist.
Lookman then went from provider to scorer in the 29th minute with a powerful low shot before completing his brace five minutes later with a simple tap-in, earning him a brace.

Lookman sets record with performance
Atalanta celebrated the occasion, noting that Lookman’s contributions not only marked a personal achievement but also allowed him to match a club record, with his four goal involvements equalling the feat of former Atalanta star Luis Muriel.
Before Verona’s visit, Colombia forward Muriel was the last Atalanta player to both score two or more goals and provide two or more assists in a single game, achieving this on April 27, 2022, against Torino.
Saturday’s dominant win over Hellas Verona also marked Gian Piero Gasperini’s 400th game as Atalanta manager across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Lookman was named in the 2024 Ballon d’Or 30-man shortlist, and with the award ceremony taking place on Monday night, October 28, the Nigerian attacker will be hoping for a strong finish on the list.
