Ademola Lookman finished 14th in the 2024 Ballon d’or following a stellar year at both club and international level, becoming the third best ranked Nigerian in the history of France Football award.
The 27-year-old was in Paris to attend the ceremony in the compay of his father and former youth coach, enjoying the moment deserved.
His manager at Atalanta, Gian Piero Gasperini was also in attendance as the Italian was also nominated for the Men’s best coach award, which was eventually won by countryman Carlo Ancelotti.

The only African nominated for the award in 2024, Lookman finished ahead of 16 other players, which included the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Nico Williams and Cole Palmer.
He becomes the third best rated Nigerian in Ballon d’or history with only Victor Osimhen, eighth in 2023, and Kanu Nwankwo, eleventh in 1996, the only two players with better placements.
Lookman will hope the ending to the year brings him yet more good fortunes as he is currently thr front-runner for the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.
