This transparency requirement led Sporting to release a detailed statement, which read:
“Sporting, under Article 17 of Regulation (EU) No. 596/2014, informs the market as follows: 1. Manchester United FC expressed interest in hiring coach Ruben Amorim, and Sporting’s Board of Directors has referred to the terms and conditions outlined in his employment contract, including the €10 million termination clause; 2. Manchester United FC has expressed willingness to pay Sporting SAD the specified amount.”
Amorim, currently preparing Sporting for a Taca da Liga match against Nacional at Estadio Jose Alvalade, may be overseeing his final game with the club on Tuesday night.
