Enyimba Fined For Social Media Misconduct
According to NPFL authorities, the Aba Club breached league protocols by posting disparaging remarks about match officials on their official X (formerly Twitter) account.
The league’s governing body highlighted that such comments risk damaging the game’s integrity and stressed that clubs must adhere to established channels for voicing grievances.
In addition to the financial penalty, the club has been issued a warning against future violations.
The NPFL advised the club to avoid actions that could bring disrepute to the league, cautioning that repeated offenses would attract more severe consequences.
The People’s Elephant, as is fondly called, has been granted a 48-hour window to appeal the decision.
The league’s disciplinary action underscores its commitment to maintaining professional standards and fostering respect within Nigerian football, aiming to prevent any actions that could tarnish the league’s image.
