Ademola Lookman has revealed the challenges the team faced in Stuttgart as what was expected as he led Gian Piero Gasperini’s side to another impressive result in Europe.
The Nigerian forward was again the star of the show as Atalanta secure an impressive 2-0 UEFA Champions League away win over Stuttgart in Germany.
After a goalless first-first-half, Lookman opened the scoring in six minutes after the restart, assisted by halftime substitute Charles de Ketelaere, who also assisted both of his goals during the weekend.
The 27-year-old was withdrawn six minutes from time, after which Nicolo Zaniolo ensured safety of the points by making it 2-0 in the 88th minute.

Ademola Lookman on the atmosphere in Germany
In quotes relayed by UEFA’s official website, Lookman stated: “We had a positive first half. We created dangerous moments in the game, so (the aim was to) just keep doing what we were doing.
“We knew the chances would come and we took them. We’re happy with the three points and we’ll keep going.”
The CAF Player of the Year front-runner continued: “We knew how important this game would be. Coming here is never easy – I think we all saw the atmosphere and how loud it was.
“It was great for us to experience it and play here, and wonderful for us to put on the performance that we did in this stadium.”
The goal on the night was his second in the UEFA Champions league this season, while he now has eight goals and five assists in 13 Atalanta games this season.
Named in the Super Eagles squad for November meetings with Benin and Rwanda, Austin Eaguavoen and Nigerians will hope he continues his red-hot form, and help the country secure the ticket to the 2025 AFCON tournament.
