John Mikel Obi’s admiration for a Chelsea move for Victor Osimhen is well known. However, the former Blues midfielder appears to have found another favourite he believes would be a valuable addition for the West London club.
Victor Gyökeres is one of the hottest names right now, with the Swedish striker racking up an impressive 23 goals in 17 games for Sporting CP so far this season, including a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Despite Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson finding form this season, Mikel believes the Sporting forward would make an excellent signing for the club.

The former Super Eagles captain thinks the addition of Gyökeres would provide competition for Jackson, using his own time at Stamford Bridge as an example: the Blues brought in players like Fernando Torres and Nicolas Anelka to keep Didier Drogba on his toes.
Mikel Obi on Gyökeres
Asked if Gyökeres would succeed at Chelsea, Mikel said The Obi One Podcast:
“Definitely. For me, he is a Premier League player, he’s a player that suits the Premier League. He has every attribute to be a Premier League player, strong, big, quick, and most importantly goalscoring.
“He can score goals and when you look at it, his goalscoring ratio is better than any striker right now in Europe, the stats are there to back it up.
“He has been absolutely fantastic. Scoring three goals against Man City, you don’t hear that often. He has been fantastic and looks a little bit like Haaland.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea striker Jackson, who had previously been criticised by Mikel Obi for his wastefulness in front of goal, appears to have turned over a new leaf.
The Senegalese forward has scored six goals and provided three assists in 10 league appearances this season, with the former Blues midfielder admitting to the striker’s improvement.
