Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has aimed a humorous dig at Fulham teammate Emile Smith Rowe following a disallowed goal in the club’s 2-0 win away to Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.
Smith Rowe opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time in the Selhurst Park to give Marco Silva’s side a deserved lead.
The former Arsenal man thought he had completed a brace seven minutes after the restart, as Reis Nelson spread the ball wide to Iwobi on the flanks following a quick Fulham break.
The Nigerian squared a cross across goal, where Smith Rowe attacks and semd the ball beyond Dean Henderson and into the net for 2-0, only for referee Michael Salisbury to overturn the goal for offside against the Englishman following a VAR review.

Alex Iwobi aims a humorous dig at Emile Smith Rowe
Speaking to FFC TV post-match, Iwobi humorously remarked that Smith Rowe wouldn’t have been offside leading up to his goal had his chest not been overly puffed out.
“I have been telling him, he has been doing uppers in the gym. I told him if his chest wasn’t inflated it’s a goal,”
“It was a nice counter attack from the back, it was a great team goal, just unfortunate it was not allowed to be a goal.”
Iwobi would go on to get his deserved assist later in the game, as he teed up substitute, Harry Wilson for the second goal, to seal a 2-0 away win for Fulham, extending their unbeaten run in Palace to four.
“Every time I have had the opportunity of playing there, it has always been difficult so the fact that we had a game plan, we stuck to it to be able to get a result as well as a good performance’, Iwobi continued.
“It is credit to ourselves but it doesn’t stop here, we have to keep on with this momentum.”
Alex Iwobi now has 31 Premier League assists, extending his own personal record as the Nigerian with the most in the competition, having already overtaken Kanu Nwankwo earlier in the season.
