Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk appears to still be reeling from the loss of striker Mauro Icardi, despite his team’s impressive win against Samsunspor this weekend.
The CimBom were without Icardi, who has been ruled out of the season due to an acute cruciate ligament (ACL) injury he picked up in the Europa League against Tottenham in midweek.
However, Galatasaray managed to secure a 3-2 victory, where Victor Osimhen bagged a brace, as the team maintained their spot at the summit, having won 10 out of 11 games in the Super Lig.

Buruk laments over Icardi’s injury despite Osimhen’s brace
Despite the victory, manager Buruk expressed sadness over Icardi’s absence, saying,
“Icardi’s injury upset us psychologically. We looked for him on the field. His value is more apparent when players are not on the field. The Osimhen-Icardi duo did great things. Icardi will hopefully return very strong next year.
”He will most likely make it to next season’s camp. There is no such thing as a contract freeze. We evaluate the number of foreign players according to when they return. It is a difficult injury, the Turkish manager said as quoted by Forza CimBom.
With Osimhen’s brace, he has now scored eight goals—six in six league appearances—and will be looking to add more as long as his loan at the club remains active.
