Kennedy Boboye has resigned as head coach of Sunshine Stars, citing interference from the club’s management as the primary reason for his departure, according to reports from NPFL.
The decision comes shortly after Sunshine Stars’ narrow 1-0 loss to Heartland at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on Sunday.

Kennedy Boboye Is Disappointed
Kennedy Boboye, who took on the role for a second time last season, was instrumental in helping the team avoid relegation during a challenging campaign.
Under his guidance, the Akure-based club secured 12 wins, seven draws, and suffered 11 losses across 30 matches during his second tenure.
The former striker explained that he felt compelled to step down due to ongoing issues with the management that, in his view, hindered his ability to lead the team effectively.
Despite his efforts, Sunshine Stars have struggled this season, currently sitting in 14th place on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table with 13 points from 11 matches.
Boboye’s exit leaves a significant gap for the Owena Waves, who now face the task of finding a replacement capable of steering the club toward stability in what has been a turbulent season so far.
