Barcelona legend Gerard Pique has opened up about the possibility of returning to football, though not as a coach, according to Tribal Football
The former Spain international, who retired from professional football in November 2022, reflected on his illustrious career and hinted at exploring new roles in the sport.
Pique, a product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, rejoined the Catalan giants in 2008 after a four-year stint at Manchester United.

During his time at Barça, he became a cornerstone of their golden era, winning three UEFA Champions League titles, eight La Liga trophies, and seven Copa del Rey titles.
Across 616 appearances, Pique contributed 53 goals and 13 assists, cementing his legacy as one of the club’s all-time greats.
Speaking in an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Pique said:
“Later, perhaps, I will return to football doing something different. I’m not interested in being a coach. Twenty years of routine has saturated me. I needed to change.
“Many years between Manchester United and Barcelona, playing every three days, ends up making you saturated.”
Reflecting on his career, he added,
“I have beautiful memories. I was lucky, I won a lot, and I fulfilled my childhood dream of playing at Camp Nou.”
Since retiring, Pique has taken on the role of CEO for the Kings League, a fast-growing football competition that has gained popularity for its innovative format.
