Victor Osimhen has revealed that he received advice from Henry Onyekuru following his move to Galatasaray.
Osimhen joined the Turkish side on loan during the summer and has been impressive since his move, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in nine games for Okan Buruk’s side.
The 25-year-old also extended his fine run on the international stage, netting an 81st-minute equaliser for Nigeria in a 1-1 draw against Benin Republic in their African Cup of Nations qualifiers on Thursday evening.

Osimhen speaks on new life in Galatasaray
Reflecting on his stay in Istanbul, Osimhen told PoojaDissects that he was amazed by the unity within the Galatasaray community.
“So far my experience in Istanbul in Galatasaray has been really overwhelming,” he said.
“When coming I didn’t really expect it to be this massive. To be able to come to a great club like Galatasaray and see how united this club is and how big of a family they are, I think it’s really amazing to see.”
The on-loan striker also expressed his delight with the love and warm reception he has received from the club’s fans.
“Whenever I go to a restaurant, whenever they see me, they are always appreciative of me coming to their club,” he noted.
“But of course, I am thanking them for accepting me, for making me feel loved, welcome, and also wanted.”
Osimhen on Henry Onyekuru’s advice
Osimhen recounted his early days at the Istanbul giants, sharing the advice he received from fellow Nigerian Henry Onyekuru, who had previously played for the club.
“When I first came, I spoke with Henry (Onyekuru), and he said something like, whenever you have a game, maybe you score like an amazing game, many of the players will push you to go have your moments with the fans,” he said.
Elaborating on the unique celebration ritual at the club, he added,
“And they are used to do something, where you would allow them to scream a lot and then you tell them to be quiet, then you hit and move and clap three times and move your hands up and everything like that,” he explained.
With the love he has received in Istanbul, Osimhen recently revealed his intention to see out his loan contract at the club, despite rumours of a potential January transfer to Chelsea. He will hope to continue his impressive form as he completes his loan spell.
