Caicedo announces birth of first child
Caicedo shared his joy just hours after helping Ecuador secure a 1-0 win over Colombia in their World Cup qualifying campaign.
“The most special day of my life. Welcome, my princess, my greatest motivation. Thank you to my life partner (@paolita_salazar18) for giving me this perfect gift,” he wrote on his Instagram account.
Fans and teammates flooded the post with congratulations, and it has turned into a viral moment.
Caicedo and Paola, both 23, have been together since their teenage years. Paola, a model and influencer, was crowned Queen of the Carnival of the Americas in Ecuador’s Los Rios province. She was also a prominent figure during Caicedo’s record-breaking £115 million move to Chelsea in 2023.
The midfielder has had an excellent start to the 2024-25 season on the pitch, scoring once and providing two assists in 11 outings for the Blues thus far.
The Ecuador international will return to club football action this weekend when Chelsea travel to Leicester in a Premier League early kickoff encounter on Saturday 23.
