Tottenham star Dominic Solanke, who has a Nigerian heritage, recently picked his favourite Super Eagles player.
The Chelsea academy graduate was eligible for the Nigerian team due to his father’s ties, but he recently made his debut for the England senior team against Greece on October 10, 2024, making him cap-tied.
Prior to his senior international debut, the 26-year-old striker had represented England at youth level and was part of the Young Lion squad that won the U-20 World Cup in 2017, including members like Fikayo Tomori, Ademola Lookman, Seyi Ojo, and the likes.

Among the stand out performers in the tournament in South Korea was Lookman, who scored three goals in six matches.
While Solanke eventually went on to represent the England senior team, Lookman had already switched allegiance to Nigeria, making his debut for the Super Eagles in 2022, and has excelled for the national team ever since.
Solanke picks Lookman as favourite Super Eagles player
Solanke revealed that he is still friends with the Nigerian international and has named him as his favourite Super Eagles player.
“My favourite Nigerian footballer at the moment has to be Ademola Lookman. We are very good friends. What he has done over the last few years has been extraordinary,” the Tottenham striker said, in an interview with Showmax, via Footboom.
Lookman was one of Nigeria’s standout performers in the 2023 African Cup of Nations, scoring three goals to help the Super Eagles reach the final in Ivory Coast. The 27-year-old attacker also performed excellently well for his club, Atalanta, scoring 17 goals and providing 10 assists in the 2023-2024 season. This includes an historic hattrick in the Europa League, helping the Italian outfit win their first continental trophy.
These impressive performances earned him a 14th-place finish in the 2024 Ballon d’Or standings, and he has carried his incredible form into the new campaign, with 10 goal contributions in nine games.
He also recently made the final shortlist for the CAF African Mens Player of the Year award, and he is being considered the clear favourite to clinch the accolade.
