Super Eagles legend Sunday Oliseh has given his thoughts on why he considers Ademola Lookman a great player.
The Atalanta forward is enjoying a remarkable period in his career, finishing 14th on the 2024 Ballon d’Or ranking, and he recently made it to the final five of the CAF Africa Mens Player of the Year award, where he is regarded as the frontrunner.
This is as a result of his incredible performances since 2023. During the 2023 AFCON, Lookman was one of the tournament’s best players, scoring three goals in the campaign and helping Nigeria reach the final in Ivory Coast.
He also had an excellent 2023-2024 campaign with clubside Atalanta, netting 17 goals and providing 10 assists in 45 games, including a hattrick in the Europa League final. This performance helped the Italian outfit win their first ever European trophy.

Oliseh heaps praise on Lookman
Oliseh appears to be a huge fan of Lookman, and he expressed admiration for the Atalanta forward, highlighting his qualities.
“Ademola Lookman is a great player. Why I find Lookman to be a great player is because I’m looking at the qualities, the characteristics that are needed to play the position Lookman plays and how he executes them, Oliseh said, in an interview with News Central TV.
“He doesn’t executes them at five out of ten, he doesn’t execute them at six out of ten, he executes most of them at 7.5, 8 out of ten, so that’s why I say he’s a great player.”
“The man has got pace, he’s got tenacity, he’s unpredictable, he knows how to give width when his team is in possession, he’s always looking for penetration to go forward,
“His ball mastery is cool, he is nimble-footed, he sells dummies and his finishing. I am calling him great because he played at the Europa League final, he did not only just play, he was decisive in winning the Europa League final.
“That is not what a good player does, that’s what a great player does.”
Lookman has also started this season in incredible fashion, netting eight goals and providing five assists in 15 games, and he also ended the calendar year with six goals for the national team.
