Maduka Okoye’s league stats
The Super Eagles shotstopper has made 30 such saves, putting him ahead of Parma’s Zion Suzuki (29), Torino’s Vanja Milinković-Savić (28), and Monza’s Stefano Turati and Lecce’s Wladimiro Falcone, who both have 25.
He also leads Serie A goalkeepers in the difference between expected goals and goals conceded. In 12 matches for Udinese this season, Okoye has let in 18 goals and kept three clean sheets ahead of his team’s clash with Empoli on Monday, November 25.
Okoye’s form is a sharp contrast to his struggles at Watford, where he made only two appearances before moving to Udinese in August 2023. Since joining the Italian club, the 24-year-old has thrived and earned a recall to the Super Eagles squad, featuring in their last eight games.
He made his first start for Nigeria in over two years during the November internationals, playing in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda. With Nigeria already through to the tournament in Morocco, the Super Eagles eased off, leading to Okoye conceding twice in the dead-rubber match.
Okoye’s performances have been rewarded with a contract extension at Udinese, signed in August 2024, keeping him at the club until the 2027-28 season.
