Defending champions Manchester City have set an unwanted record following their humiliating 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening.
“In eight years we have never lived this kind of situation. Now we have to live it and break it by winning the next games, especially the next one. Now we see things in one way, maybe in a few weeks we will see it differently,” Pep guardiola said after the loss.
Guardiola’s side are in a precarious position, and Saturday’s loss was their fifth consecutive defeat across all competitions, following losses against Newcastle United, Bournemouth, Sporting CP, and Brighton before the international break.

The loss against Brighton had already marked a historic low for the Spanish manager, who suffered four consecutive defeats for the first time in his managerial career. However, the latest setback against Spurs has taken his team to an even lower point.
Manchester City’s unwanted record
With the loss to Spurs, Manchester City have now become the first reigning English top-flight champions to lose five games in a row in all competitions since Chelsea in March 1956, according to the Premier League official website.
The EPL champions will, however, look to reverse their fortunes when they welcome Feyernoord in midweek for their matchday five Champions League encounter.
