Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that his team could find themselves out of the Premier League title race if they lose to Liverpool next weekend, according to ESPN.
His comments come in the wake of City’s alarming 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, marking their fifth consecutive loss in all competitions and their third straight league defeat.
Liverpool, currently at the top of the table, could extend their lead to eight points with a win over Southampton on Sunday.
Should City falter again at Anfield, the gap could widen to 11 points, leaving Guardiola’s side with a mountain to climb in the title race.

When asked if such a deficit would be insurmountable even this early in the season, Guardiola candidly replied, “Yeah, it’s true.”
He continued, “We’re not thinking about winning or losing [the title]. We are not in the situation to think about what is going to happen at the end of the season. If in the end we don’t win, it’s because we don’t deserve it. We won it in the past because we deserved it.”
Pep Guardiola’s remarks underline the growing pressure on his squad as they prepare for the high-stakes clash against Liverpool, a match that could define the trajectory of their season.
