Former Turkish midfielder Yilmaz Vural has openly stated that Galatasaray cannot afford to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen on a full transfer deal.
Osimhen, currently on loan from Napoli, has been a standout performer for the Turkish Süper Lig champions, showcasing his goal-scoring prowess and unselfish play in attack.
Osimhen’s Impact at Galatasaray
The 25-year-old has been central to Galatasaray’s success, contributing goals and assists consistently since his debut. In fact, he has only failed to record a goal involvement in two league matches.
During Galatasaray’s recent 1-0 win over Boldrum FK, Osimhen was unlucky not to add to his tally, as he created a big chance for teammate Hakim Ziyech, who missed the opportunity to convert.
Despite his strong performances, reports indicate that Galatasaray may face financial challenges in attempting to secure the striker permanently.
Vural’s Take on Osimhen’s Future
Speaking on the Telegrol Program via Haber Sari Kirmizi, Vural praised Osimhen’s abilities but admitted that his price tag, reportedly €75 million, is beyond Galatasaray’s financial capabilities.
“Victor Osimhen is a magnificent footballer. He can pass people with his dribble, he has incredible control over aerial balls. He is a real centre-forward, and his technical and physical characteristics are very good,” Vural said.
However, he advised the club to focus on acquiring talented players from lower leagues who come at a lower cost.
“Our big teams like Galatasaray should acquire names like Barış Alper Yılmaz and Kerem Aktürkoğlu from the lower leagues.”
Osimhen’s Commitment
Despite a break clause in his loan deal that could allow him to leave in January, Osimhen has reassured fans of his commitment to Galatasaray, making it clear he has no plans to depart during the winter transfer window.
While his performances have delighted supporters, securing him permanently will remain a significant challenge for Galatasaray unless they find a way to meet Napoli’s steep valuation.
